Orbscured_
This installation employs cast spherical forms to experiment on the nature of resolution. The orbs’ otherwise coarse or ‘pixelated’ forms tend toward purer geometries. Each orb’s initial radius can’t help but expand as it pushes towards a finer resolution. Each orb seeks an impossible perfection, similar to our common urge towards ever pressing technological advance.
Geometry renders all spheres identical. These orbs, however, take on a unique composition due to their unrepeatable visual patterns. Their variation in texture, from striated to smooth, and their radial deviation, smaller to large, interrogate our recognition of resolution as a relative concept. Positioned within a larger grid, the orbs present a series of points that approximate the geometry of a larger orb, and paint an infinite quest towards resolution. Orbscured [third arrival] presents a concept that chases a single truth, always approaching, yet never reaching.
